with Kimberly Witt, LCSW
Welcome
Hello! Welcome to Magis Mental Health with Kimberly Witt, LCSW.
I'm glad you're here taking the time to care for yourself.
I offer a safe space for introspection, expression, and developing self-understanding. I specialize in working with adults who are feeling overwhelmed, worthless, and unlovable. People who are dealing with existential dread, who struggle with maintaining a self-care routine, and who, despite their best efforts,
are hypercritical of themselves.
Together, we will clarify your goals, utilize your strengths and evidence-based techniques to create an action plan that empowers you to find solutions, manage stress, cope with overwhelming emotions, and enhance your overall well-being. My hope is that you will leave each session feeling lighter, calmer, and more centered.

I earned my Bachelor's degree in Counseling and Human Services from the University of Scranton and my Master's degree in Social Work from Marywood University. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Pennsylvania. I have a strengths-based, person-centered, trauma-informed approach. My therapeutic style is influenced by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and Narrative Therapy. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. I am rooted in the perspective of post-modern Feminist Theory, meaning I like challenging the status quo, and prioritize equality, cultural humility, and partnership in our work together. I am also a 200-hr certified yoga instructor. If you are comfortable, we can utilize breathing techniques, mindfulness, and yoga practices as coping tools.

One of my greatest strengths is my ability to find strengths in others when they do not see any. I am a big-picture thinker and realistic optimist. I like finding creative solutions to problems. I am a great listener, empathetic, and open-minded. I enjoy philosophy and like to explore deeply-held beliefs, so we can examine if they are helpful and effective. I love learning, which helps me continuously seek new resources to bring to the table. My approach to mental health and wellness is holistic because we are multi-faceted beings who benefit from comprehensive attention and care. I believe that mindfulness is at the core of change. We need to be aware of ourselves in the present moment and be able to pause in order to choose the response we want, rather than reacting. I can teach a variety of mindfulness techniques that are accessible to anyone, regardless of spirituality or background.
"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change."
Carl Rogers
Magis
Magis (mah-jiss) is a Latin word that means more or greater. Magis refers to the value of striving for better, for excellence, the restless desire for greater things. This value encourages a spirit of giving and service to others. To me, the essence of magis is that of never settling; it is the life-long pursuit of self-actualization, the commitment to pursuing the best version of one's self. Magis speaks to my commitment to quality mental health care, constant learning, development and effort to promote holistic wellness. Magis also is my hope for you, that you experience this sense of excellence in your life.
